URGENT REMINDER FOR ALL OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE HOLDERS: Protect Your License from Automatic Cancellation
July 11th, 2026 by admin
This is a critical reminder for all occupational license holders who are required to maintain a valid surety bond. Following a recent update to the Occupational Licensing (OL) DXP platform, the system now automatically cancels a license the moment a surety bond on file is no longer current. Under Vehicle Code section 11721, if a bond expires and a new, valid bond is not uploaded before that expiration date, the DMV will automatically cancel the license.
The system sends out automated alerts—including a 30-day countdown notice—to your designated point of contact prior to expiration. However, if these notices are missed or ignored, the cancellation happens automatically, causing an immediate, unintended shutdown for your business.
In the meantime, we want to help you prevent any disruptions.
3 Steps to Protect Your Business Today:
- Update Your DMV Account: Log into the OL system right now to ensure your designated point of contact's information is completely accurate.
- Submit Documents Early: Ensure all required documents are submitted and uploaded to the DMV well before your current bond expires.
- Read & Respond to Alerts: Watch your inbox closely for department notices and act on them immediately. If you notice any inaccuracies (like a wrong expiration date) in the system, notify the department right away.
